Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ROADLINE UK, threatened with possible closure if it does not cut its losses by the end of this year, put on an aggressive face this week.

The National Freight parcels subsidiary, which lost £4.6m last year and has been steered off a course which would have driven that up to £6.5m this year, announced a E2m plan to buy 83 Daf, Iveco, Leyland and Volvo tractive units.

And managing director Graham Roberts, plucked from the successful Cartransport subsidiary to help save Roadline, said this was only the first phase in a three-year investment plan.

"With the increasing competitiveness of the parcels market, it's vitally important that we are able to demonstrate our commitment to the future success of the company," he said.
