IMAGINATIVE advertising is not normally associated with road haulage. British Road Services is a rare exception and has taken first prize in the retail service category of the Advertising Awards for 1984 organised by Super Marketing.
The Yellowhammer agency produced a series of five advertisements depicting BRS as a provider of a complete transport service and focusing on the own-account operator's various problems. The copy for one begins teasingly: "Do you run a manufacturing business that does its own distribution? Or a distribution business that does its own manufacturing? At times we suspect you hardly know yourself."
