Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A STANDARDISED EEC certificate for lorries showing maximum authorised weight and other details has been devised in Brussels to help speed up police checks on commercial vehicles.

The form, which must still be approved by EEC transport ministers, should be introduced by July 1986 when the EEC partial agreement on weights and dimensions becomes law.

Common Market officials say the form — similar to the plating certificate used in Britain — will eventually be replaced by a plaque fitted to all new vehicles after July 1986.

The form, and subsequent plaque, will list the following information: the manufacturer's name and EEC type approval number, the vehicle's identification number, maximum authorised weight and axle loads.

An EEC spokesman said: "This information will make it easier for police to see whether international drivers are obeying the law. It will accelerate the controls."
