NIGEL BARRETT, financial controller for Potteries Motor Traction (PMT) since March 1984, has been redesignated company secretary. Mr Barrett, a chartered accountant, joined the Stoke-on-Trent company after 18 months with the National Bus Company's group internal audit team. He was formerly with Redditch Development Corporation.
Hire echelon
FORMER Salford Van Hire general manager Phil Shannon has moved to the Midlands to set up another truck hire firm. He has taken charge of Midland Motor Contracts, which is part of Stourbridge dealer S. Griffiths and Sons and has 200 cars on contract hire at present but is launching a truck hire company called Rhino Rental.
THE CENTRAL Midlands and West Mercia divisions of the Freight Transport Association have elected their officers for 1985/86.
DON JOHNSON, distribution manager with Albright and Wilson of Oldbury, is chairman of Central Midlands. He is supported by senior vice-chairman JOHN COOKE, transport manager with Lucas Electrical, Birmingham, and vice-chairman ALAN BRIDGE, who is managin g director of Cadbury Schweppes Transport Services at Birmingham.
West Mercia's senior officers are: chairman, DEREK JOYCE, transport director, HP Bulmer, Hereford, and vice-chairman, ARNIE BODEN, C. Robinson and Sons' transport manager at Tenbury Wells.
