Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Beacon Tippers of Stone, Stafford, the specialist manufacturer of small tipper and municipal bodies, has called in the receiver.

Th business, including a freehold site, offices and three modern paint, bays totalling 1,600m2, is now up for sale under the management of an administrative receiver at Touche Ross.

Receiver John Atkinson says Beacon directors gave up the fight last Thursday evening: "It's too early to pinpoint exactly what forced this situation, but obviously Beacon was hit by falling turnover and insufficient orders," he says. "It's clear that the cashflow situation became very difficult."

Managing director Bob Tudor has been told by Touche Ross to make no comment.

The company recently spent a lot of money preparing for BS5750 accreditation, especially in the construction of the paint bays, and one of Tudor's co-directors split off less than a year ago to set up Staffordshire Tippers which was chasing the same type of customers as Tudor.

Beacon's turnover topped Min last year and it had customers throughout the UK "We are completing all the orders that were in hand and we hope to sell the business on as a going concern," says Atkinson.

When the receiver was called in there were 12 employees at the company.

LI Bodybuilders have been hit hard recently. Casualties include Besco and Hoynor.
