Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BOTH the Association of Public Passenger Transport and the Scottish Road Passenger Transport Association are to be wound up. The APPT agm decided this at its conference last week (report, page 19) and SRPTA men made the move earlier this month.

APPT will fold on March 31, 1976, and its members are being urged to join the Confederation of British Road Passenger Transport. Earlier objections on the part of APPT to that body have largely been overcome by the Confederation agreeing to have three municipal members on its 30man council, all of whom could be elected representatives. APPT members are also being urged to assist the Association of District Councils in its bid to set up a passenger transport committee.

At last week's conference, Cllr Colin Worthington from Nottingham was elected president and Mr Geoff Hilditch, new general manager at Leicester, its vice-president. They will oversee the body's winding up.

The SRPTA will cease to exist on September 30 and will be re-established immediately as the Scottish council of the Confederation. Bill Murray, SRPTA president, will be the council's first chairman.
