OFFICIAL figures show that in July 17,883 new vehicles other than cars and motorcycles were registered for the first time under the Roads Act, 1920. The monthly average for this year is 16.298.

As will be noted from. the following table, new registrations in the first seven months of the year numbered 114,084: N.I. LONDON COURTESY CAMPAIGN IS A SUCCESS

I ONDON TRANSPORT'S courtesy LA campaign has had a remarkable effect, said Mr. J. H. Brehner; 0.B.E., F.R.S.A., the Board's chief public relations and publicity officer, in an address to the Regent Advertising Club, in London, last week.

He stated that every week some 30 letters were received from members of the public in praise of individual employees or other aspects of the Board's service. Similarly, members of the staff Were invited to inform the management of outstanding acts of courtesy performed by passengers, who, where they could be traced, received letters of appreciation. Mr. Brebner said that Press advertising continued to be a main feature of London Transport's publicity programme. He added that the Crown
