• Coolchain has taken over fresh produce haulier A Wood & Son of Outing, Kent but a spokesman for the company says there will be no cut in the number of subcontractors it uses.
Woods, which distributes fresh produce for supermarkets, used to run a fleet of 50 trucks and subcontracted about 50% of its work. A spokesman for the company, which is based near Maidstone, says this will not change follow ing the buyout by Coolchain.
Woods used to be owned by the Albert Fisher group before it was sold to members of the family that founded it. Now those owners have sold the business to Coolchain.
