Northern Licensim.! Authority refused an application by Mr. James Alderson, of Crook, for a CL: I transporter licence to carry cars from Birmingham to Darlington. The Authority, Mr. J. A. T. Hanlon, said tiv:t big loads, including car transporter., were a great inconvenience to other road users. It was pointless carrying heavy loads by road when rail transport was adequate.
