THE formation of a state transport corporation is under consideration by the Government of Mysore. Mr. K. T. Bashyam, Minister for Law and Labour, made this statement recently.

• The Government was also trying to introduce a trolleybus system in Bangalore at an early date to supplement the existing facilities. The scheme will cost about Rs.8m. and will involve the provision of 65 miles of overhead cable. The Railway Minister is willing to contribute towards the expense.

The Government of Hyderabad has announced that it proposes to set up a corporation to take over the manage-, ment of the road transport department' at present run by Nizam State Railways, The corporation will be advised by a council on which public and business interests will be represented. The department operates many modern British vehicles.

To expand town services, the Punjab Government has introduced numbers of oilsengined single-deck buses to the Lahore Omnibus Service. 'Bodies have been designed by-the Punjab Transport Service. Operation is proving profitable and a fuel saying of about Rs.10,000 per vehicle per annum is reported.

Six double-deck oilengined buses for use in Lahore arrived in Karachi recently from Britain. Curtailment of Colombo Council's right to operate a proposed tnollevbus. service was criticized in a letter from the mayor to the Ceylon Minister of Transport. The Minister replied that the provision of a service was not a municipal function, but the concern of the central Government.

It was -the Government's intention to create an authority to provide transport in the greater Colombo area. The Minister added that trolleybuses had become out Of date, but as vehicles had been ordered, permission would be given for their operation over existine tram routes.

Twenty doublee:leckers have been ordered from Britain by the. High Level Road Bus Co. to replace single-deckers on one route leading out of Colombo.
