A RECENT addition to the range of 1–% equipment made by Mann Egerton and Co., Ltd., 5, Prince of Wales Road, Norwich, is a portable breakdown crane suitable for lifting the front or rear of 3-ton vehicles. It is known as the type 309D

The whole structure is fabricated from steel by welding, and, in conse quence, it is claimed to have a high strength-weight factor. Unloading can be precisely controlled by means of a friction brake which, together with the machine-cut gears, is fully enclosed.

A fixed jib with swivelling head is employed, the head and pulley block having easily removable bolts so that the crane can when necessary, be used as a winch.

The same company also produces the type FL35 .high-lift floor crane which has an adjustable jib. There are four positions for the jib, ranging from the horizontal to an angle of 30 'degrees. Jib angle is varied by means of a simple winch incorporated in the gearbox. The crane has a four-point base 'and a folding towing handle.
