Dy Tuesday evening, the Road HaulI-) age Association had received a gratifying number of replies from antiSocialist candidates in the General Election, to the resolution on denationalization,passed, last week, by delegates to the Association's annual conference at Torquay (see page 329).
lhe resolution expressed confidence that the Conservative and Liberal Parties would honour their promises to abolish the 25-mile limit, and quickly complete the denationalization of goods road transport. Every anti-Socialist candidate was sent a copy of it.
A spokesman of the Association told "The Commercial Motor" that, as the terms of the resolution did not call for a reply, he was extremely pleased by the encouraging response. .
Over half of 'the Conservative candidates who replied, agreed with the resolution. About one-third did not support it specifically, but bound themselves to the pledges to road transport already made by their party. No candi date rejected the resolution. • PROMOTING SCOTTISH TOURIST TRAFFIC
A COMMITTEE is to be formed. ti.representing hotel and coaching interests, to promote the development of touring in Scotland. This was agreed at a meeting in Edinburgh convened by the Scottish Tourist Board, which repre-' sentatives of 30 coach companies and 140 hotel keepers attended.
Last year, 60,000 coach tourists visited Scotland.
At the meeting, operators agreed to make increased use of Scottish publicity material, but pointed out that in many cities they could not obtain adequate parking ,facilities. In some, they were " being harried by the police and sometimes they even had difficulty in letting down their passengers." There was also a lack of good signposting. It was agreed that this matter should be taken up by the Board with the authorities.
R.H.A. OFFERS TO HELP
A LTHOLJGH, as reported in "The PA Commercial Motor " last week, the Road Haulage. Association was not , invited by the British Transport Commission to assist in .the relief of railway congestion during the winter, its members will be ready again to help trade.

BLACKPOOL NEXT 'YEAR NJEXT year's conference of the Road Haulage Association is to be held in Blackpool probably early in October. Proceedings at the conference held at Torquay last week arc reported on pages 329-331.
