Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

YOUR correspondent, Nigel Breeze of Southend in "Dear Sir" of October 29, 1983, comments on the "ills of coaching".

His strong point refers to the lack of adequate London terminals. We are extremely conscious of this, and have done something about it for our tours and services in our own modest way with a neat, but small, underground terminal just off Russell Square, at the Royal National Hotel.

He is quite right. For over 30 years there has been a problem, especially in North London, and to my personal knowledge, the independent operators have created no less than seven terminals, only to be prevented from retaining them, to make way for other uses.

Highway authorities do not want the coach on the roadway, but will not create "off the highway" space for it.

There is a long-term plan for a terminal in the St Pancras action plan, but it needs accelerating to meet today's needs.
