A VEHICLE cargo security system that automatically records vehicle weight, date and time of day, gives a new meaning to "Spy in the cab."
The system, marketed by Lodec Inc of Lynnwood, Washington, USA, comprises electric load cells, a digital weight indicator and a compact printer which can be programmed to give a permanent record of each time the vehicle doors are opened and closed. Unauthorised stops and incorrect pickups/deliveries are thus easily identified.
Weight information is derived from heavy-duty load cells, which give an accuracy of better than one per cent.
