Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

'revention of incorrect coupling letween semi-trailer and tractive Init is the claim for a fifth-wheel ,oupling introduced by Salvern .ransport Products.

The coupler locking mechansm comprises a jaw and locking iolt and incorporates a lower ensing arm which must be riggered by the lower flange of he kingpin before automatic oupling can occur.

If the semi-trailer kingpin is Do high the pin will pass over he trigger and the automatic Dcking mechanism will not perate. Should the lower part of he pin just catch the lower ensing arm the locking bar will ot locate; this will be confirmed y the lock handle not being in he locked position.

However, should the legs be withdrawn with the semi-trailer oupled as described the locking lechanism has been designed o that the kingpin will fall within he coupler jaws and an utomatic coupling will occur.

The Tru-Lok, as it is called, .ivots at one side of the coupler hroat and is swung round the ear of the kingpin by the force if the locking bolt which extends cross the throat behind the jaw D form a beam behind the ingpin.

Neither. the jaw nor locking iolt pins take any pulling load when connected up to the railer. The pulling load is ransmitted from the kingpin hrough the jaw and locking bolt D the stops on each side of the :oupler throat.
