that efforts were being made to discourage the use of oil engines were discredited in London on Tuesday.

One report said that certain oil interests had approached the Minister of Fuel and ,Power With a request to limit the availability of oil fuel, by taxation or otherwise, on the ground that unless there continued to be a large market for high-octane fuel, the balance of the oil-production industry in this country would be upset.

The Ministry of Fuel and Power stated that no suggestion of this kind had been received. The Shell and Vacuum companies also denied any knowledge of the rumour.

It is known that the American oil companies are concerned about the expansion of the use of oil engines in the U.S.A.

HANSON SERVICE TO HEATHROW?

AN application has been • made by Hanstm's Buses, Ltd., to the Yorkshire Licensing Authority to run a summer express service from Bradford and Leeds to Heathrow airport for the benefit of passengers using aircraft travelling to Jersey under charter by the Hanson Travel Service. It is proposed to operate the service on Fridays and Saturdays from June until September.

150 COACHES FOR WEMBLEY

AFLEET of 150 coaches will be used by German supporters when they visit London for the international football match at Wembley next week. Special arrangements to avoid traffic congestion during -sightseeing tours are to be made by the police. Transport will be provided by Samuelson New Transport Co., Ltd., C. Rickards, Ltd., and Thomas Cook and Son, Ltd.
