Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Business / Finance

THE Yorkshire Licensing Authority has refused the application of East Yorkshire Motor Services, Ltd., to charge double fares on Christmas Day on seven services running from the outskirts of Hull into the city. This would have brought the company's Christmas Day fares into line with those within the city.

Main objectors to the application were Haltemprice and Beverley councils.

Mr. C. R. Wreathall, general manager of the company, said that he did not consider that a precedent would be established with regard to Bank Holiday fares if the application succeeded. Christmas Day services at ordinary fares did not pay.

LEYLAND COMPONENTS IN MOBILE DRILLING RIG

UUSING a Leyland Comet shortwheelbase chassis as a basis, and Leyland units for ancillary transmission, Mitchell Engineering, Ltd., have produced a mobile drilling rig for Failing Supply Co., Ltd.

The Comet 5.7671itre oil engine also provides the power to erect the 40-ft. mast and operate the drill. A full power take-off transmits the drive to the drill head by means of spiral-bevel gears through a four-speed auxiliary gearbox.

A chain from the auxiliary-gearbox power-output shaft drives the " mud " pump and the hydraulic pump which raises and lowers the mast. The outfit is entirely self-contained.
