STOKE-ON-TRENT haulier GB Lovatt (Transport), which appeared at a maintenance-related PI in April, has been told by the Trafic Commissioner (TC) that no action will be taken against its licence.
In addition, no action will be taken against the company’s transport manager, Glenn Lovatt, following the PI held in Birmingham.
However, the irm has had to give the following undertakings: ● All tyres are to be checked on a weekly basis by a specialist tyre company – currently Potteries Tyres – and all defects found are to be noted and rectiied within 14 days. The rectiications will be noted. ● All records will need to be kept for 12 months and made available to VOSA staff on request.
● All vehicles and trailers must be roller brake tested every three months. The results will be recorded and kept for two years and made available to staff from VOSA on request.
● A programme of training for all drivers on examination of tyres, defect spotting, recording and notiication is to be supplied to the Ofice of the TC, and implemented within 60 days. Conirmation is to be supplied to the Ofice of the TC within 14 days of implementation.
● All new drivers must undergo such training within 30 days of beginning employment at the irm.
