k SOLIHULL operator who has aunchecl a £222m bid to buy Roves Longbridge plant insists that he company is still viable as a car nanufacturer.

Martyn Moseley, MD of Olton nternational Freight, plans to inance the deal with backing from Faiwanese airline and shipping ycoon Chang-Siao Chung.

Moseley, who worked as an ipprentice at Rover, says he has nil in the bid for "social and moral easons": -The closure is simply iot something that should be Wowed to happen and not some thing that needs to happen. I've been in business since I was 22. You give me Longbridge and a few quid and I guarantee I'll get the place going."

He has a team of motor manufacturing experts from north America standing by to help make Longbridge work again and estimates he would need 75% of the staff recently laid off.

Moseley, whose Olton haulage company runs 35 trucks, owns several other companies including a French cash & carry.
