Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A new aluminium superstructure for the Crane Fruehauf Continental TIR semitrailers has been introduced. The new 12-metre model is now 9cwt lighter than the standard model with steel superitructure and timber dropsides, with the weight saving achieved by using aluminium for both the dropsides and framing superstructure.

In addition to the increased payload capacity, the latest CF TIR semi-trailer offers extra strength with minimum weight, with the use of aluminium providing freedom from corrosion problems. The design also incorporates the standard advantages of interchangeability of all parts, even between different chassis, and easy handling by one man.

Developed by Crane Fruehatic in conjunction with Akan-Booth Ltd, the new bodywork features 711mm (2ft 4in.) high drop-sides and tailboard assembled from extruded aluminium hollow planks. These incorporate recessed panels with collapsible eyelets for effective sealing of the tilt. The superstructure is manufactured from aluminium alloy sections and is designed to offer a side loading feature giving two apertures of 2.185 metres (711 2in.) high by 5.893 metres (19ft 4in.) wide. This is achieved by removing the intermediate pillars each side of the centre pillar, which is retained.

Employing the standard TIR chassis complete with 1.372 metres (4ft 6in.) high plywood panelled bulkhead and sockets the new vehicle has an internal width of 2.426 metres (711 1 lfin.), an internal length of 12.1 metres (3911 84in.) and an internal height at ridge of 2.4 metres (7ft 10fin.). These dimensions give a cubic capacity of 71 cubic metres (2507 cu ft.) within the 4-metre overall vehicle height.
