• A new fast weekend coach service is being introduced by W. C. Standerwick today (May 26), linking Keswick with London (Victoria Coach Station) in 6hr 40min — nearly 3hr less than the normal journey time. This has been made possible by the official opening of the M6-M1 Midlands link on May 24, and is part of a programme of faster services introduced this weekend.
Coaches will depart from Keswick at 8.55 am Friday to Monday until September 25, calling at Grasmere, Ambleside, Windermere and Kendal, then, apart from two refreshment halts, running non-stop to Luton, with a final call at Hendon before arriving at Victoria at 3.35 pm.
