• Members of the Leeds and District Hauliers' Federation are to increase their charges by 7+ per cent from June 1. Commenting, Mr Donald K. Archbold, the chairman of the Federation. discussed the question of the general increase in prices which amounted to 12+ per cent and he added: "This excludes any future wage increases and our present wage agreement with the unions ran out in February." Mr Archbold said they had decided to pass on an increase of 7+ per cent and had thus managed to absorb much of the cost, but they had tightened their belts long enough and without an increase could not go on.
