• Kent's first inland clearance depot was officially opened on Wednesday by the Minister for Transport Industries, Mr John Peyton, Operated by Freightflow International Ltd. a wholly owned subsidiary of Lenham Storage Ltd, the depot has been in operation for some months now and expects to build up to a traffic peak of 20 to 30 TIR vehicles. every 24 hours. It is also rail-connected The IC D is at Lenham, Kent, on A20, the main road between London and Folkestone and will obviate the need for customs clearance of freight vehicles at the ports. (Dover alone expects a 30 per cent increase in freight traffic throughput in 1972-73.) There is a permanent customs clearance facility at Lenham, and covered storage space totalling 500,000 sq ft. This includes a bonded warehouse. On-site offices are available for forwarding agents and have full telex and telephone facilities.
Servicing is available for vehicles and there wilt shortly be a new restaurant and accommodation facilities for drivers.
