BRITISH Road Services have appointed new managers for their High Wycombe and Tufnell Park, London, depots. Mike Hosier, 33, takes over at High Wycombe, and Alan Bailey, 29, is the new man at Tufnell Park.

Mr Hosier has been with BRS since 1958 and was Amersham assistant branch manager for the past three years. Mr Bailey has spent a year as assistant to Southern BRS managing director Brian Hayward.

Paul Rivett becomes head of marketing of National Carriers. He was a senior consultant with Unigate, involved in marketing, production and distribution.

Chief road engineer of the Scottish Development Department is to be James MacKenzie. He takes office on June 1 following the retirement of Gilbert Norris.

Mr MacKenzie will be promoted to under secretary at the department. He has been director of the North Eastern Road Construction Unit since 1971.

On the passenger front Derek Fytche will become managing director designate of the LT Country Bus Services following the retirement of the present md Cyril Buckley, on July 31.

Mr Fytche is the present director and controller of the National Travel (NBC) Ltd at Victoria.

Bruce Robertson has been appointed depot superintendent of Wessex National, the Bristol unit of National Travel (South West) Ltd.

At Trailor SA (UK) Alain Thiriez becomes managing director. He is at present the marketing manager of Trailor SA (France).

Transfleet Services have appointed Geoff Homer, contract services manager in the Yorkshire area, as district manager. At the same time George Robathan joins Transfleet as workshop manager and David Williams is the new truck rental assistant.

Dowty Seals have appointed Peter Andrew general manager. He has been with Dowty since 1969 and is at present a director and deputy general manager of Malta Rubber.

Victor Palmer is the new senior sales executive of Kwikasair International and Richard Green becomes operations manager. Mr Palmer is to be based in Manchester and Mr Green in Birmingham.

Powell Duffryn have appointed Viscount Sandon as a non-executive director of the company from April 1. He is. also a deputy chairman of the National Westminster Bank.

We announce with regret the deaths of Len Stevens, former proving engineer with CAV; haulier Stanley Simpson of Boston, Lines; William Dames, haulier of Bourne, Lincs.

Duple have announced the death of their former chairman, Frank Ford, who was well known as both an operator and in manufacturing. He was sales director of Plaxtons from 1959 to 1968, and in 1970 he bought Duple. In 1972 he became chairman of the Cranleigh Group, later Duple International.
