THE British Standard specificalicin to which makers of toughened glass conform is under review. This information was given by the Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry. of Transport, M. H. Molson, in a written reply to Mr. Robson Brown last week.
Mr. Brown asked whether regulations governing toughened glass could be amended to provide that, when fractured, it should fragment in such a way as to permit a reasonable amount of vision. Mr. Molson said that there had been no evidence that shattered windscreens had caused accidents and it was not considered that the methlions needed strengthening.
The United Nations working party studying vehicle construction at Geneva had recommended' that windscreens should be made of a substance which, when broken, would afford a certain degree of visibility.
