• Hauliers' jobs will not be affected by the merger of Morrison Quarries and Tilcon quarry operations in the north of Scotland.
A total of 14 quarries will be brought together in the deal, but a Morrison spokesman says: "They are not envisaging any job losses at this moment in time."
The merger creates a new company called Caledonian Quarry Products. Starting on 1 August, it will operate in the Grampian and Highland regions.
Morrison Quarries also intends Tilc.on 4 to run its sand and gravel quarry near Kelso.
