THE DEPARTMENT of Transport is not satisfied that there are sufficient means to ensure that goods vehicles comply with regulations relating to maximum permitted weights.
That, explained Transport Under Secretary Reginald Eyre, was why additional traffic examiners are being appointed, and expenditure on the provision of dynamic weighbridges is planned nearly to double this year.
He added that he is looking for a substantial increase in the number of vehicles checkweighed.
