BERT LYONS has been elected general secretary of the Trans

port Salaried Staffs Association to succeed TOM JENKINS, who retires in August. Mr Lyons has been assistant general secretary since 1973.

ZF Gears has made RICHARD HANDS managing director. He takes up his new position on July 30, following the resignation of ROBERT REAST. Mr Hands was formerly managing director of the Associated Engineering subsidiary, Edmunds Walker.

JACK WERNER has taken over as director of European components sales for York Trailer. He will be reponsible for the group sale of components and trailer equipment to Europe, Scandinavia and part of North Africa.

Alcan Transport Products, has made two sales executive appointments. STEPHEN SMITHEE takes over the Alcan Bonallack product range for Eastern England. He joins the company after several years with coachbuilding companies in the area. TONY DAVIS will be responsible for Southern England, and will be based at Lancing, West Sussex.

Edbro has promoted BERNARD DOBSON to project engineer (applications).

CLIVE MALPAS-SANDS has joined the board of Edmunds Walker (Holdings) as director of administration and information systems. He has held management positions with IMI Kinoch and Perkins Engines.
