• A competition that aims to discover new ideas for expendable pallets is being promoted by our associated journal Mechanical Handling. First prize is £250 and there are five consolation prizes of El 0 each.

The competition is for a design of "single-journey through-transit expendable pallet" which in the opinion of the judging panel, is the most ingenious, practical and economic of those entered for the competition and which satisfies criteria detailed on the entry form.

The sponsors of the competition are: The British Productivity Council, Bambergers Pallets and Cases Ltd, the Institute of Materials Handling and Mechanical Handling.

The competition closes on September 30, 1970 and the awards will be presented at the Institute of Materials Handling Conference at Bournemouth {November 17-1W.
