• On July 1, Mr K. C. Turner, chairman of the Road Transport Industry Training Board, will open a new training centre at Catford Stadium in south-east London. The centre is the result of 12 months' work by a five-man executive committee of the East and South London Group Training Association.
Under the chairmanship of Mr S. Grace, of G, Grace and Sons, Messrs J. Montague. S. Mansfield, J. Marsh and S. K. Biswas, have drawn up a constitution and developed what is described as "the largest group training association in the country". Membership is limited to 25 member companies, controlling 2400 vehicles. The staff will comprise three instructors working under the supervision of Mr 1). Liddell, formerly training officer with J. and H. Transport Ltd. Mr Liddell was appointed by the RT1TB. Membership fee has been set at £25, which is returnable if the member resigns. There will be separate fees for each class of training.
