Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THIS week's prizewinner is Mr. C. Aelcroyd. of Pellon, Halifax. His idea concerns the easy fitting of rear brake shoes on a Leyland Comet. The problem, he says, is to keep the rods for the two leading shoes in place. His suggestion is simply to push the lever that has no adjusting screw, against the back of the shoe. The rod is then placed in the recess. The lever that has the adjusting screw on it is then brought into position against the rod and a wedge is knocked in the hole by the adjusting lever, making the mechanism solid. This is repeated on the second shoe.

With the rods held in place, says Mr. Ackroyd, it is much easier to fit the shoes. When they are fitted the wedges are removed with pliers.

Comments handyman: This is an acceptable idea, which in practice does work. c2I
