• The IRTEC "licensed" CV technician scheme operated through the Society of Operations Engineers is being extended to include goods vehicle fitters from October.

Originally launched for the PSV sector last year, the scheme comprises a one-day competence assessment with five modules and a final exam drawing on elements from the Vehicle Inspectorate's Annual Testers' Manual. Certification costs £180 (ex-VAT). It is valid for five years and meets European Standard EN45013.
