Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Drivers falling asleep at the wheel could become a thing of the past thanks to an 'artificial passenger' system developed by IBM. It is designed to make solo journeys safer for drivers by playing music to them, telling them jokes and sounding alarms whenever they make a mistake. The software is built into the dashboard electronics and asks the driver a series of questions, gauging his responses to determine if he is suffering from fatigue. If the driver is deemed to be too tired the system wakes him up by opening a window, sounding a buzzer—or spraying him with icy water!

IBM is talking to car manufacturers about developing the idea, but it could be several years before drivers reap the benefits.
