This glass, developed by Chance-Pilkington, acts faster than any other known photochromic glass on the market. We have used Reactolite Rapide lenses over a period of a year. and have no doubt that their sensitivity to changing degrees of glare in winter and summer greatly reduces eyestrain during long-distance driving.
We have selected four. models of these British-made glasses as our special offer; each one comes with a case. The first has a lightweight metal, wideangle frame finished in a bright silver colour. The nose and side pieces are adjustable (best done by an optician) and we have found that this model is perfectly acceptable to women although they were designed for men. Millions of light-sensitive silver halide crystals are invisibly embedded in the glass, and they go on working for ever, darkening as the light gets stronger and vice-versa. The speed of darkening is such that, in coming out of the shade into brilliant sunshine, the glass darkens through 80 per cent of its total performance in 30 seconds.
