• At a farewell reception held in London recently, Mr. Francis Gamier, who is retiring as general sales manager of Michelin Tyre Co. Ltd.. was presented with an illuminated address of appreciation by members of the sales and commercial staff and other departments. together with several gifts.

Mr. Arnold Stone has been appointed chief traffic officer of Leeds City Transport. succeeding Mr. J. B. Gill. Mr. Stone, 48, has been deputy to Mr. Gill since 1946. He won the Henry Spurner Memorial Scholarship in 1961 and spent eight weeks in the U.S.A. studying transport systems there.

Mr. A. R. Tippen, assistant to the transport manager of Bowaters Ltd., is joining the British Sugar Corporation transport department.

Mr. E. H. Roberts, works manager of Key-Leather Co. Ltd., has been appointed an executive director. Mr. John Fisher continues as director and general manager. Mr. Edgar A. Wondracheck has been appointed to the board of Vauxhall Motors Ltd. as director of manufacturing. The appointment arises from the retirement of Mr. Clark A. Riddell, who was director of manufacturing until becoming assistant to the managing director last year. Mr. Wondracheck. 58, joined Vauxhall in 1960 after 25 years with General Motors in the U.S.A., Mr. Riddell joined General Motors in 1928 as a time-study specialist and came to Vauxhall in 1958.

Mr. A. Elliott, a director of Precision Rubbers Ltd., Bagworth, Leicester, has been appointed general manager of the company and elected to the board of the John Bull Rubber Co. Ltd.

Obituary wE regret to record the deaths of Mr. H. A. E. Cree and Mr. Cecil Armstrong.

Mr. Armstrong, of Clontarf, Dublin, who joined W. and R. Jacob and Co. Ltd., biscuit manufacturers. Dublin, in 1930, was appointed transport manager about four years ago.

Mr. Cree, 54, died last week following a racing accident at Silverstone. He was a senior -sales executive of Small and Parkes Ltd. and had been with the Cape Asbestos group for 15 years.
