U.T.C. Profit Up: Net profit of the United Transport Co, Ltd., before tax, was £2.182,437 in 1962, compared with £1,610,652 in 1961—an increase of over 35 per cent. All U.K. transport interests in the group are now controlled by a new company, Bulwark United Transport Ltd. The board's stated intention is to develop the transport interests. U.T.C. has bought the Greyhound Group of bus companies in South Africa.

Grimsby and Cleethorpes Results: Despite fare increases last November, the Grimsby and Cleethorpes Joint Transport Undertaking had a deficit of £2,532 for the year ended March 31 last. Passenger takings had risen by £21,504, although 398,000 fewer passengers were carried compared with the previous year, but expenditure rose by £18,074 because of extra mileage and wages increases. Credit balance of the undertaking was reduced to £20,084 from £23,146 previously. Good Year for Bradford Transport: Despite a further drop in the number of passengers carried by Bradford City Transport in the year ended March 31 last, the net profit of £81,095 was the best since before the War. But to make up the fund for the replacement of vehicles a rate contribution of £39,984 will be needed in 1964-5, so that the final position is a deficit of this amount. Last year, the net revenue surplus was £714, but £101,667 was needed from this year's rate for capital outlay and vehicle replacement. This was the first complete year in which the department was free of debt and debt charges are replaced in the accounts by an amount of £78,536 for vehicle depreciation.

Long-service Awards: Mr. R. W. Birch, chairman and managing director of Potteries Motor Traction Co. Ltd., presented longservice awards to three members who had completed. 50 years' service, six with 40 years' service and 13 with 25 years' service. The occasion was a dinner at the company's sports and social club.

New Stockton Depot: Stockton on Tees Corporation has received Ministry approval of a £142,000 plan for a new depot for the Corporation transport department.
