A COUPLE of years or so ago I participated in various discussions regarding the possibility of setting up a museum of oldtime cleansing appliances. Little progress was apparent but the question has now come in for further examination.
The Institute of Public Cleansing's journal commented in the December issue that although bringing together examples of equipment used through the ages might provide a fascinating task there would undoubtedly be many practical difficulties, among them the obvious ones of space and cost. Public Cleansing speculates on whether any of the established transport or associated museums might be able to find room for examples of cleansing appliances of special interest, and it is mentioned that at the Lacre factory a 1919 L-type Lacre sweeper is preserved in good condition.
