H. R. Featherstone, 41, has been appointed to the new post of director of the Traders Road Transport Association. He is succeeded as national secretary by G. Turvey, 33. The TRTA says these changes form part of the general internal re-organization of the Association's structure caused by the growth of its services and activities in recent years and the increased demands made by trade and industry as a result of the Road Safety Act and Transport Bill. Mr. Featherstone will be primarily concerned with Association policy. He joined the TRTA in 1958 and was appointed secretary two years later. He was formerly assistant secretary, British Rubber Development Board. Mr. Turvey joined the Association as assistant secretary in 1960 from the secretary's department of AEI Ltd.

John A. Bate has been appointed group training manager, Leyland Motor Corporation. He will continue to serve as employee relations superintendent for a temporary period.

J. J. Johnson has been appointed Guy Motors Ltd. assistant managing director (executive)— sales and service. Mr. Johnson was previously executive director, sales.

B. Smith has been appointed Guy Motors Ltd. executive director—production. He joined Guy two years ago as personal assistant to the managing director.

Bernard C. Jessop has been appointed manufacturing manager, Scammell Lorries Ltd., responsible for all production of trucks and trailers at the Watford West and Moor Park factories. A. F. Rowe has been appointed joint general manager with W. H. Timson of the Leicester furniture removal firm, H. Timson and Sons, Ltd., in succession to E. G. Wright who died recently. Raymond Budding has joined the board. R. E. Timson and R. Mould, have joined the board of the subsidiary company, Leicester Export Packers Ltd.

G. M. Newberry and S. J. B. Skyrme have been appointed directors, Greenslades Tours Ltd., in succession to F. K. Pointon and W. M. Drawers, who have resigned owing to pressure of other business commitments. Mr. Newberry has been elected chairman of the company.

G. T. Rehfeldt has been appointed chairman of the reconstituted board of directors of Cummins Engine Co. Ltd. The board also comprises: R. F. Richard, managing director; H. B. Schacht, director: A. Park, director—finante; J. A. Gray, director—personnel; D. W. Mansell, director— marketing. P. Berryman will act as company secretary. With the promotion of Mr. Richard, managing director of the Cummins and ChryslerCummins Plants in Darlington to the overall control of Cummins operations in the UK, J. Patrick has been appointed deputy managing director of Cummins and Chrysler-Cummins in Darlington. Mr. Patrick has been general manager of the Cummins Engine Co. plant in Shotts since March, 1966 R. I Elmes, general manager, Silver Roadways Ltd., retired—on medical advice—on December 31. He is succeeded by D. W. Boucher.

J. A. McMullen has been re-elected chairman' for the ensuing year of the Traders' Coordinating Committee on Transport. S. C. Bond and L. A. Castleton have been re-elected vicechairmen. In addition, B. V. G. Lewis, traffic manager, Arthur Guinness Son and Co. (Park Royal) Ltd., has been elected a vice-chairman.
