Price, Ltd., are using special new road-rail containers for the transport of their products. Further details of these containers have now been received.

Each measures 8 ft. 61 in. long x 7 ft. 5 in. wide x 7 ft. 5 in. high. They are built almost entirely of light alloy sections and panels except for the floor which is of timber. A sliding door is fitted in one end to match a similar sliding door in the rear of the cab of the specially modified vehicles on which the containers are loaded; when mounted, entrance to the container can only be made through the cab. Each container has a capacity of 370 Cu. ft. and an unladen weight of I ton.

The containers, which have a separate locating and securing arrangement for both rail and road vehicles, are designed to be carried in pairs on specially adapted British Railways standard " conflat " wagons.

The road vehicles have special plates in the chassis which locate and centralize the container as it is lowered—operation of a screw on the chassis locks the container in position. Flaps are then raised at each side to cover the fork-lift pockets on the container.
