Active Auctions, an online sate, kicks off next month, selling used vans and trucks from finance houses, banks and Leasing firms eBay-style

Words: Kevin SwaUow ACTIVE AUCTIONS starts next month, selling returning stock from finance houses, banks and leasing companies online.

The first sale, a seven-day auction, allows registered buyers to bid online and starts on 16 March at www.active-auctions.net (pictured above), "We have a marketing database targeting 11,000 people," says Chris Hart, the founder and owner of Trucks2go, who is behind the project.

The sale will include commercial vehicles, plant, cars and trailers "We have got some stock on the site now, with more arriving," he says. "Each vehicle will have photos and a PDF report explaining its condition."

Bidding is done in a similar vein to eBay. Everything is available to bid on over a seven-day period, and the individual with the highest bid when the time expires will have claimed the vehicle.

The closing stages for each vehicle are staggered so buyers can concentrate on different bids and if a vehicle doesn't reach a reserve price, then the buyer and seller can reach a compromise.

Buyers register online and transactions are completed by bank transfer. When the funds clear, the buyer collects the vehicle. •
