• BP is introducing hi-tech diesel pumps at its truckstops that will recognise the truck being filled up and bill the owner automatically.
Fuel will only be dispensed once the pump's computer has recognised two microchips fitted to the truck's fuel tank— and when the driver has filled up he simply drives away.
The paperless, card-free sys tem is designed to stamp out fraud oh the forecourt, speed up refuelling stops and ensure that fleet managers receive accurate fuel-management data.
It can also check if a truck brought in for fuel has been reported stolen.
The FuelMaster system is being tested at 47 BP filling stations and will eventually be seen across the UK.
