Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BOLTON-BASED Shaw Computer Systems has introduced computer-based package designed to provide fleet data for as little as £25 per week on a leased basis.

Aimed primarily at operators with more than 10 vehicles, the program package is designed on a modular basis providing information including tachograph analysis, whereby information is collected from a VCS, Lucas Kienzle or Veeder Root analyser, vehicle performance, costing and fleet management, invoicing and other accounting functions.

Tachograph analysis data on each driver is compared by the computer with legal requirements, and where an infringe ment occurs it is highlighted on the analysis. A computer printout letter ready for mailing to the driver concerned can also be produced — a feature claimed to be unique to the Shaw system.

Additionally, vehicle diary dates such as MoT or road fund renewals, warranty expiry and service intervals can be produced, as well as vehicle use and fuel and maintenance costs.

For large fleet operators, data held on regional microcomputers can be transferred to a main frame computer for consolidation and analysis. Leasing costs in this instance can be as little as £25 per week.

The microcomputer with full program package costs approximately £6,000 excluding tacho analyser, although separate programs compatible with most microcomputers are available.
