THE effect on bus operators in Yorkshire of a shorter working week in industry has been considered by the East and West Ridings Regional Board for Industry. At a meeting last week the board suggested that industries contemplating shorter working hours should confer with transport undertakings.
The Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners had pointed out that half an hour off the working day might mean that there would be thousands of factory workers waiting for buses before operators had taken schoolchildren home.
The board agreed to urge local sections of industry to consult transport undertakings when considering plans for a shorter week.
