WHEN W. and L. Transport, Ltd., London, E.C.3, applied to Mr_ C. J. McDonald, Metropolitan Deputy Licensing Authority, for a B licence for three vehicles in London last week, he observed that they were specified on the C licence of a Mr. Leaman.
"What does Mr. Leffman do?" asked Mr. McDonald.
"He is a dealer in sand, ballast and builders' aggregates," said Mr. F. R. Catterall, a director of W. and L. Transport. "According to the records he is in the toy business," responded Mr. McDonald. "I also notice that one of the vehicles is specified on the B licence of Fredrick Wooster, Ltd., hauliers."
The case was withdrawn. The Authority warned that any possible irregularity would be investigated.
Six vehicles had originally been sought. The application was reduced because W. and L. Transport had not enough money to buy six, although they believed there was need for them.
