TRANSPORT units without premises, which failed to find buyers in I Lists 1 and 2, will be on offer again until March 31, for the benefit of those who wish to have second thoughts on their earlier bids. Tenders for " reject " units with premises will be accepted up to April 14. Of the 992 units and 6,214 vehicles in Lists 1 and 2, at least 534 units (4,489 vehicles) will have to be put up for sale again, either in special reject lists or in later schedules.

Altogether 335 of these units (2,160 vehicles) appear in List RI, which was published on Wednesday by the British Transport Commission. Copies may be obtained from the chief secretary, 222 Marylebonc Road, London, N.W.1. Envelopes of application should be marked "List RI," Units without premises number 239 and those including buildings total 96.

Another list of "rejects." R2, will appear probably early in April.

List 4 is due to be issued in the week beginning March 22.

Better Response Shortly after last week's issue closed for press, the Road Haulage Disposal Board and, the Commission published a progress report on List 2. It showed that the response had been better than to List 1, but the proportion of tenders rejected was still extremely high. The report is analysed in a table at the foot of this page.

In List 1, tenders for 56 per cent. of all units (nearly 76 per cent, of the vehicles) were rejected. In List 2, the proportion fell to 43 per cent, of the units (53 per cent, of the vehicles).

, There was, however, a rise from 34 to 7 in the percentage of units for which no bids were received. Applied to the vehicles, the percentage increased from 4 to 16.

More Acceptances

About 40 per cent, of the units (191 per cent, of the vehicles) in List 1 found buyers and in List 2 the proportion rose to 454 per cent. (22 per cent, of the vehicles).

Again the percentage of rejections was far greater in the case of units with premises than of those consisting entirely of vehicles.

-Statistical evidence of the response to List 3 is not yet available, but criticism of the condition of mapy of the vehicles has reached The Commercial Motor.
