vY most up-to-date fuel-injection equipment maintenance departments has been brought into operation at the central workshops at Frenchwood, Preston, by Ribble Motor Services, Ltd. All the equipment, with the exception of the Hartridge test machines, was designed and built in Ribble's own workshops.

Injector components are washed in a jet of clean oil and beneath the bench are concealed draining arrangements which guide all used oil to a common settling tank. When the oil in the tank reaches a pre-determined level a float arm makes contact and through a relay an electric pump is started. This forces the oil through a series of filters into a storage tank on the roof of the shop.

Injection pumps are removed from cosines every 42,000 miles for calibraion and governor check. At 168,000 miles, when all vehicles are brought is for overhaul, the fuel pumps are :ompletely stripped and rebuilt.

Injectors are removed for servicing

every 21.000 miles and as a result of the strict attention paid to maintenance, injector troubles are almost unknown. They can be left in engines for 42,000 miles without loss of performance.

SOUTHEND-LONDON SERVICE DECISION

THE Eastern Licensing Authority has deferred his decision on the application of Westcliff-on-Sea Motor Serices, Ltd., for an all-the-year-round service between Southend and London until the Metropolitan Licensing Authority gives a decision on the hacking application.

The second day of the hearing in the primary area was March 18. The first day's proceedings were reported in The Commercial Motor last week.

A date has not yet been fixed for the hearing of the backing application, which is expected to be important, as it is concerned primarily with a proposed picking-up and setting-down point at the new town of Basildon.
