Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

general 1/meeting of Tecalemit, Ltd., a few days ago, the chairman, Mr. S. G. Gates, referred to the company's intention to engage more actively in export markets. In pursuance of this policy, a subsidiary company has been formed in Australia; a factory has been acquired and equipped in Melbourne and is already in production. It also has under consideration the formation of a company in Canada.

It is hoped that these ventures, which now assist war production in the Dominions, will, in post-war years, contribute to the development of the company's overseas markets.

COMMISSIONERS TO CO-ORDINATE P.S.V. SERVICE'S

AMINUTE on the subject of the co-ordination of road passenger services has been sent to the Regional Transport Commissioners by the M. of W.T. It deals, with the need for making the best possible use of buses, crews, and maintenance facilities, and the Commissioners are asked to review, where advantageous, any arrangements now in force restricting the ability of p.s.v. operators to pick up and set down passengers on certain routes. In normal times these may provide necessary protection for local operators, and often represent prolonged negotiations, but their continuance now may not always lead to the best use of• facilities. If necessary, they should be modified, without prejudice to the future position of the operators affected. More closely co-ordinated working between services of adjacent operators, municipal or company, may also be possible.

Improvements are to be effected by persnasion and agreement, but the Commissioners are asked to report particular cases where they are unable to make the rapid progress considered necessary.

NEW FORD FILMS HAVE NATIONAL APPEAL AT a pre-view of the new Verity film " Switch Over," which tells -the story of how the great Ford factory changed over from peace to war production, another short film " Harness Your Horse Power " was also shown.

The first deals with the change from peaceto war-time production in the great Ford works. Well conceived and excellently produced, it should have a wide appeal, as the human element is by no means forgotten.

The second film is a little moral story for agricultural consumption. Here we have the adventures of two farmers, each of whom bought a tractor to increase his production. Mr: Brown is mechanically minded, whilst Mr. Green loves horses and is unmechanical. The latter fills his radiator from a pond containing frogs eggs, tadpoles and mud, never does any greasing and allows 'water to get in his petrol, with natural and amusing results.

Brown goes to the other extreme and hauls a little travelling workshop about with him. As a practical denionstration of tractor maintenance, it could hardly be bettered. The film is to be shown by mobile cinema units of the Ministry of Transport, of which 100 are in operation, and agricultural committees in each district will send out invitations to tractor users when the film is due to be shown.

IS RED TAPE BINDING TOO MUCH PAPER?

ACCUSATIONS have been made that ,whilst the Government and other official Departments are imploring the public to give their paper to the collectors, they are themselves, in many instances, using it wastefully_ We learnt recently, for example, that the police are still making reports, often of only five lines, on paper of foolscap size. Not long ago.a municipality sent to every householder in its area a notice regarding paper salvage, and there were comments upon this extravagant use. We can only hope that the paper thus employed went into the collection.

An official in a department where secrecy is important told us the other day that all papers in connection with it were burnt. Surely these could he treated in some way and salvaged.

Paper decorations for Christmas are still available at some shops. It is not unpatriotic to buy them, for, after use, they can be given to the collector and not stored for another year.

Do not scrap all your envelopes. Those in good condition can be used again with paper flaps, or, if you have neh use for them give them to some business friend.
