Anthony Finlayson-Green, MD at the Hoddeson, Herts-based firm, says that for the year ended 30 June, "an operating prof it was made on reduced revenue".

This is a return to prof it for the firm that

suffered a pre-tax loss of E1 ,5m during the 12 months to 30 June 2009 (CM 18 February).

As a reward to employees who experienced a two-year pay freeze, the firm has introduced a bonus scheme, which will give workers a lump sum in December, and a second bonus in the second half of the 2010 financial year if targets are met.

It was hoped an annual rise would be offered, but FinlaysonGreen says: "We had a problem because some divisions performed better operationally and financially than others, so this bonus method seemed fairer. This is, however, still effectively a pay award based on conditions. Staff have been good in accepting this deal."
