WILKINSON, Who for the past six years has been sales manager for Q Vehicles, Ltd., is leaving the electric-vehicle business to take up the position of sales manager of the Government sponsored Educational Foundation for Visual Aids. He will be responsible for the encouragement of the distribution of films and other visual aids to all national educational authorities.

MR. R. E. Cox, deputy manager of I3olton Corporation Transport Department, has been appointed general manager of St. Helens Corporation Transport Department in succession to Mr. G. W. Robb who, as announced in 'The Commercial Motor" of July 15, will be leaving St. Helens to take up the position of general manager to the Cape Electric Tramways Co., Ltd.

MR. GEORGE J. WEST a member of he Road Haulage Association's head office staff, has been appointed secretary of the employers' panel of the Road Haulage Wages Council. Mr. Weg, who originally came to Associated Road Operators in 1937, returned to the

MR. GORDON L. JACKSON, director and general manager of Chaseside. Engineering Co., Ltd., and his technical assistant, MR. JAMES LovE, are making an intensive tour of Canada to sell the

Chaseside -cubic yd. mechanical shovel. They " are travelling in an

'articulated lorry, which carries a demonstration shovel and a small car for use in cities. Thoir tour is expected to occupy 40-45 days and to cover 4,500 miles. MR. GEORGE H. JACKSON. managing director and father of Mr. Gordon Jackson, evolved the shovel 25 years ago. More than 5,000 of these Mta. F. J. HURN, director and general manager of Smith Motor Accessories, Ltd., has taken over the duties of MR. C. W. NICHOLS, on the latter's retirement from his position as sales director, and now becomes responsible for the whole of the Motor Accessory Division. He has been with the company for 30 years, and was appointed director and general manager in 1944. To allow him more scope and time for his additional responsibilities, the general day-to-day administration and management of the commercial and sales activities of th's Division, apart from contract business, have been passed to MR. S. E. BURLINGTON, Who is also a director. Another change is that MR. P. BLAIR, previously sales manager of the associated company, Radiomobile, Ltd, becomes its general manager. M1'.. Nichols started with the concern in 1901, and a few pioneers may remember his visits, about 1906, to agents and garages in a three-cylinder Panhard with fiat canopy roof and batteries of instruments and accessories. He was untiring in his efforts and will be greatly missed in the industry, but the company will still have the benefit of his advice.
