Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

If using a mobile while driving is dangerous, what about a frying pan?

The new law has come into force it is illegal to talk on a hand-held mobile phone while driving. If you're caught, you'll be fined and given three penalty points on your licence.

Yet driving around you will see plenty of car, van and truck drivers ignoring the legislation. Perhaps it's because people don't look upon distractions such as mobile phones as a safety hazard... until something bad happens as a result.

One German truck driver has taken this to a new level, though. While driving with three times the legal alcohol limit in his system, he became a bit peckish. Without stopping, he decided to f ire up his portable gas cooker and (wait for the stereotype) cook himself some sausages. The cab caught fire and he had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Thank god he wasn't French -making a crepe while on the go would be a nightmare.

• Hungarian rabbits can count themselves lucky that the stove-wielding German wasn't on the motorway near Budapest. A local truck carrying 5,000 rabbits managed to crash and overturn, thereby spreading them across the road. Although 500 were killed, 4,400 were recovered. Rumour has it the other 100 are filming a Hungarian remake of Watership Down.
